Dad finished his second round of chemo. It’s been good so far, no severe side effects. Thank.you for your support but we still meed help.so please spread the word about this tumblr and click the Paypal link. Dad doesn’t have a drug plan so meds are out of pocket and we have to pay premiums for extra insurance.

Sorry for the radio silence the Nephews (along with their aunt) have invaded. Fausto did his first chemo treatment and from what you can see in the pictures, it was ok. Lot of weakness. This is my Dad with his mother (lower right) and his six sisters. Our family is from Ecuador; Fausto came to this country in 1969.

On June 29, we had a very successful fundraiser for my Dad at the Hot Spot Diner in Newark, NJ. It’s a great start but Cancer is an all absorbing beast so please let people know about this tumblr and press the donate button.

Dad is resting after his first chemotherapy treatment this past Thursday and Friday. He is in good spirits and thanks everyone on the intertubes; friends and strangers for their support.

When the going gets tough the tough get googling.

Medicare (Because healthy 70 year old men on very few meds don’t purchase supplemental insurance or drug plans)

AARP (The only place that would give my dad insurance)

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

And of course, Pay Pal. Look to your right. We set up a PayPal Button because my Dad has to pay out of pocket for drugs and has to pay for treatment that began before the supplemental insurance kicked in and has to pay a large premium for the supplemental insurance. And come October we’ll be allowed to purchase to drug plan to cover the drugs which aren’t cheap.

In the beginning

My Dad doesn’t look bad for 70. This was during the Holidays 2011/2012. He’s posing with my sister and two nephews; his grandchildren. Fausto (weird writing out his name) is retired from his machinist career and aside from a little hypertension was the picture of health. In March he had a gall bladder attack and had emergency surgery. While doing scans they found enlarged lymph nodes in his groin and decided to biopsy them. We didn’t feel any alarm just figured it was some infection because of the gall bladder.

On March 28, 2012 I receive a text from my dad (yes he can text at 70): “I have lymphoma”.

So now we know inappropriate texting isn’t just a folly of teenagers…

This is Fausto. He is the father of four, grandfather of 5 and great-grandfather of 1. He has mantle cell lymphoma.

Fausto is my father. Started this tumbler to talk about my Dad and hopefully get some support as he starts treatment.
